Description

“Copper Desktop Monkey King”, i.e. Copper Desktop Monkey King Ornament, is created based on the image of Monkey King in the Chinese mythological story ‘Journey to the West’. Production process
Design conception: Based on the understanding of the Monkey King’s image and creative inspiration, the designer draws the design sketch by combining with the use of desktop ornaments and size requirements. Determine the posture of the Monkey King (e.g. fighting, flying in the clouds, sitting quietly and thinking, etc.), the expression and the proportion of the overall modeling, and at the same time, consider the coordination with the desktop environment.
Making molds: Silicone molds or plaster molds are generally used. If you use silicone molds, first make an accurate prototype of the Monkey King (available materials such as oil clay, resin, etc.), apply mold release agent on the surface of the prototype, and then apply silicone material layer by layer, and then disassemble the molds after the silicone has cured. Gypsum mold is to adjust the gypsum paste around the prototype filling, solidification after disassembly to get the mold .
Casting molding:
Lost-wax casting method: first, a wax mold is made, the paraffin wax is heated and melted and injected into the mold, and then the wax mold is finely sculpted. Then the wax molds are assembled into a wax tree, on the surface of which multiple layers of refractory paste are applied to form a shell, and the shell is heated so that the wax molds are melted and flowed out, resulting in a hollow casting. Finally, the molten copper (pure copper, brass or bronze, etc. according to demand) is poured into the casting, and the pendulum blank is formed after cooling and solidification.
Sand casting method: The sand is used to make the casting, and the sand box is filled with sand to form a cavity to hold the copper liquid. The molten copper liquid poured into the cavity, to be cooled and solidified, break the sand to take out the blank.
Post-processing: remove the blank on the sprues, risers and other excess parts, the use of files, sandpaper and other tools from coarse to fine sanding, so that the surface is smooth and flat. Through the burin and other processes to further carve details, such as hair, clothing texture, facial expressions. Surface treatment can also be carried out, such as polishing to make the surface bright, or old treatment to create a sense of simplicity, some of the high-end ornaments may be gilt, inlaid with gemstones and other processes to enhance the degree of splendor .
